ARLINGTON, Texas–The City of Arlington is asking residents to share their private security system feeds with its Police Department.
Police officials said giving the department “quick” access to footage will have a “positive impact” on their ability to solve crimes within the city. Residents can directly register their cameras, doorbell security cameras, or similar surveillance systems to the city’s crime center.
The Connect Arlington initiative doesn’t give the department live access to residential cameras unless residents opt-in to that part of the program. Arlington is just one of the many cities across Texas with a community camera program–nearby Fort Worth has a similar program.
Residents interested in the program can register here.
