TOKYO–Arlington residents are no doubt aware of cat cafes, where for a fee visitors can commune with furry kitties and possibly adopt one.
But Japan takes animal cafes to a whole other level.
Visitors to Japan could conceivably spend their entire trip enjoying cafes devoted to the cuteness of owls, cats, dogs, otters and even micro pigs. Visitors can even find cafes devoted to cuddling up with a hedgehog or a capybara.
The animal cafes are popular not only among tourists, many of whom miss their furry friends back home, but among locals. In fact, many locals live in apartments where they are either prohibited from having pets or where they don’t feel they have enough space to accommodate a furry companion.
Animal cafes can fill the void for locals and visitors alike.
