ARLINGTON, Texas—A new vintage store and coffee shop recently opened in Lincoln Square, bringing local coffee and fashion lovers the best of both worlds.
A Fresh Start in Arlington
Coffee Pop-Up Boutique officially opened its doors in mid-February, introducing an edgy and unique concept to the city The boutique seamlessly blends high quality espresso drinks with carefully curated vintage fashion . Arthur Wilson, the shop’s owner, shared his excitement over the store’s launch as the community has embraced the shop in its journey to take off.
“Better than I expected,” Wilson said. “We’re still getting off the ground, but things have been steady.”
This coffee and vintage shop hybrid is one of the first of its kind in the city, offering a carefully curated selection of vintage fashion and a welcoming space where customers can enjoy their quality brewed coffee while browsing through the major collection of vintage clothing the shop offers.
Beyond its edgy yet muted aesthetic, Coffee Pop-Up Shop Boutique provides a space for the community to shop, work , and socialize all in one stop— completely elevating the typical retail and café scene.
Blending Coffee and Fashion
Wilson’s inspiration for the concept came from his years of exploring vintage fashion and his personal experiences of shopping at other stores.
“I have been vintage shopping for about three or four years now, and when I go to the bigger vintage clothing stores—what they call ‘digs’—there’s usually a coffee pop-up,” Wilson said. “But they’re separate. Infusing both ideas into the same place is kind of commonplace, but it’s not something people typically do.”
Bringing this idea to life didn’t exactly come without its own challenges. Wilson shared that there were initial hardships when it came to working with the city.
“It was difficult working with the city to try and bring this idea to fruition, but we got it done,” Wilson said. “I’m glad we’re here, and I’m looking forward to the future.”
What’s on the Menu?
Coffee Pop-Up Boutique offers a classic selection of handcrafted espresso-based drinks, made with high quality beans and house-made syrups along with an extensive variety of bottled waters.
“Hot vanilla lattes are really good here,” Wilson said. “We make our own syrups.”
For those who prefer a non-caffeinated option, the shop offers over 20 different brands, including Topo Chico, Perrier, Pellegrino, Voss, Fiji, JUST Water and Liquid Death.
“Liquid Death would be our main water because our brand aligns with Liquid Death,” Wilson said.
Aesthetic and Sourcing
The shop’s fashion aesthetic leans toward the alternative, punk, grunge and metal-inspired styles, with a heavy focus on black clothing.
“I don’t want to put anyone in a box because that’s not what we’re about,” Wilson said. “If you wear a lot of black, I’m sure you’ll find something here that you’re going to like.”
When it comes to sourcing pieces, Wilson focuses on band tour T-shirts with concert dates on the back, a detail that makes them more exclusive and collectible .
“You have to go to the show to acquire those pieces,” Wilson said. “When we find one, we add it to our collection.”
The shop currently houses more than 300 tour shirts, with Wilson and his team always on the lookout for more unique finds.
Custom Designs and Distressing Services
Beyond curating vintage pieces, Coffee Pop-Up Boutique also offers in-house customization and distressing services, allowing customers to fully personalize and elevate their pieces .
“If you buy a shirt and want it cropped, we have people who will tailor it to your style for an additional charge,” Wilson said.
When it comes to distressing clothing, Wilson and his team take the process to another level with a creative and unconventional approach.
“We destroy the clothes,” he said. “We run them over with our car, we burn them.”
For those shoppers looking for a more polished yet vintage style, the boutique also carries button-ups, hoodies and “dad shirts,” offering a vast variety of styles ensuring everyone will be able to find their perfect style.
