ARLINGTON, Texas – You’ve goat to be kidding me!
Arlington police officers found themselves hoofing it through neighborhood streets Tuesday morning as they worked to corral a herd of escaped goats near the Crystal Canyon Natural Area.
Officers responded to the call around 7:30 a.m. when the herd was seen wandering in a neighborhood near Brown Boulevard and Winding Hollow Lane. A section of Brown Boulevard was closed temporarily while the team worked to return the goats to their enclosure.
Body camera footage released by the Arlington Police Department shows the mischievous goats passing through a residential street as they were shepherded back to Crystal Canyon.
“Who knew we were goat wranglers now?” an officer said in the footage. A bell on one of the goats could be heard clinking in the background as they trotted along.
All members of the herd have been accounted for and safely returned to their enclosure, Tim Ciesco from the Arlington Police Strategic Communication Group said.
The escaped goats and several hundred more are in the Crystal Canyon Natural Area temporarily as part of a partnership between the City of Arlington and Open Space Development. The animals have been tasked with clearing underbrush and invasive species from the park, which will help maintain waterways and reduce fire danger.
